Dear Friends:
It gives me great pleasure to bring you the Sanibel Music Festival’s 40th anniversary season. Our history is long and rich in musical excellence. Incorporated in 1987, its mission then, as it is today, is “to present music of the highest caliber at affordable prices and to promote the careers of emerging artists through performance opportunities.”
The all-volunteer Board of Directors, who devote long hours to SMF throughout the year, have created a wonderful 40th season. We open with our longtime friend, Jon Nakamatsu, an amazing pianist and international artist. Back by popular demand are the Brentano String Quartet and the New York Brass Arts Trio.
New to the Festival this year is the dynamic Salix Piano Trio, who have also been chosen to conduct the Educational Outreach sponsored by the Festival at the Sanibel School. With us for the first time are the Cincinnati Chamber Players featuring Dwight Parry, oboe, Felicity James, violin, Christian Colberg, viola, and Lachezar Kastov, cello.
Making their debut in our musical theater slot are the talented Southwest Florida Showstoppers presenting “Masters of the Marquee,” a celebration of music from Broadway to Hollywood.
Our concerts will be performed at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, a beautiful venue with great acoustics and an intimate atmosphere. We are grateful for their continued support of the Festival.
We are also grateful for our generous donors, sponsors, and ticket buyers, and to our dedicated volunteers and host families. They make Sanibel Music Festival possible.
We are happy to welcome three valued new Board members. Linda Kramer will be working on development along with Paul Harvey. Ellen Harvey is our new Secretary.
Stay tuned to our website for more information, and watch for the launch of ticket sales on June 1st
We hope that the music we bring to you this, our 40th season, will enrich your life.
“Save March for Music”
Bobbi Conrad, SMF President
