The Sanibel Music Festival was founded in the 1980’s by Marilyn Lauriente, musician and impresario.
The Festival has presented such wonderful artists as: The Emerson String Quartet, Olga Kern, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Wu Han, David Finckel, The Julliard String Quartet, Orion Weiss, Joyce Yang, Jon Nakamatsu, Ruth Laredo, the American String Quartet, the Pacifica Quartet, and the Prazak Quartet.

The Festival presents seven concerts each “Save March for Music” season, with piano, chamber music, recital and vocal ensemble.

Hailed by The New York Times as “impressive, lithe, persuasive,” when the members of the Horszowski Trio (Hor-SHOV- ski) – Jesse Mills, Raman Ramakrishnan, and Rieko Aizawa – played together for the first time, they immediately felt the spark of a unique connection.  Many years of close friendship had created a deep trust between the players, which in turn led to exhilarating expressive freedom.

Three world-class virtuoso soloists have come together to revolutionize the brass trio, and are being hailed as the first brass group ever to play with the sensitivity and musicality of a string quartet. Trumpeter Joe Burgstaller, french hornist David Jolley and trombonist Haim Avitsur have forged together classical, light classical and classical/jazz masterworks of all eras and adapted them in unique and innovative instrumentation.
