The Sanibel Music Festival was founded in the 1980’s by Marilyn Lauriente, musician and impresario.
The Festival has presented such wonderful artists as: The Emerson String Quartet, Olga Kern, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Wu Han, David Finckel, The Julliard String Quartet, Orion Weiss, Joyce Yang, Jon Nakamatsu, Ruth Laredo, the American String Quartet, the Pacifica Quartet, and the Prazak Quartet.

The Festival presents seven concerts each “Save March for Music” season, with piano, chamber music, recital and vocal ensemble.

Boston Chamber Music Society with Ann Hobson Pilot, Harp

Ann Hobson Pilot, principal harpist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, began her musical education at the age of six with piano lessons from her mother, a former concert pianist and a teacher in the Philadelphia public schools. In her teens she began studying the harp with Mary Ann Castaldo, and continued her training with Marilyn Costello at the Philadelphia Musical Academy. She later studied with Alice Chalifoux at the Salzedo Harp Colony in Camden, ME, and at the Cleveland Institute of Music, from which she received a Bachelor of Music degree.

The Gould Trio

Gould Trio with Robert Plane, Clarinet

The partnership between Robert Plane and the Gould Trio stretches back 25 years and is the closest relationship with a chamber ensemble Robert has enjoyed in his career. The fact that he is married to Lucy Gould, violinist of the Gould Trio, clearly intensifies this, but the whole ensemble has a feeling of family and of a wealth of shared experience. Richard Lester, cellist of the trio, also happens to be Lucy Gould’s brother-in-law, completing the family bond.
